Jeremy de Rose

 

Originally from Surrey, has lived in Thanet for 50 years. He worked in the railway industry from 1973 to 2022, progressing from a guard to a managerial role and later joining a rail support company. He was a trustee of the Spitfire Museum at Manston for 12 years, serving eight as chairman.

Previously a Labour member, he left due to their stance on the working class and Manston Airport, joining the Liberal Democrats in 2017 mainly for their Brexit position. He advocates for local council control, opposes the unitary authority policy, and supports integrated healthcare in Kent due to personal health experiences.

As chair of Thanet Liberal Democrats, he has built a diverse local party. 

He is also a committee member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, pushing for major improvements to Thanet’s road and public transport systems.
