Robert Winslow
Spokesperson for Broadstairs
Robert Winslow has Broadstairs at his heart, having studied catering at its famous college, while helping to run a student lunch kitchen there.
He then went on to work in the town for many years, and regularly helps run community groups, like the town team gardening events, and Broadstairs food festival, which he is a board member of.
Rob wants to see a fairer community, with more opportunities for younger people within the town, as he feels in the future, this will a major challenge for sustainability.
Law and order is also a great concern, the anti social behaviour the town has had to endure during summers, he feels could have been averted with better planning, and resources, and more positive and thoughtful engagement with young people.
The street scene in Broadstairs is also something Rob wants to see change. Potholed pavements and roads, poor parking enforcement, and anti social driving is blighting the day to day lives of townspeople.
Going forward Broadstairs faces a series of significant challenges, that need to be addressed to continue to keep it a great place to live, as an under 30, Rob has the perspective needed to guide these changes.
